This is the University of Maryland Linux Users Group's public mirror of free and open-source software.
This mirror is run by student volunteers using rackspace and 20Gbit/s Internet2-capable network provided by the Division of IT. The Mirror is partially supported by the Student Technology Fee.
News
- 5 May 2025: We now have ROS 2 packages in our ROS Packages repository.
- 25 November 2024: The GNOME project has discontinued all public mirroring, and no longer provides an upstream rsync service. We have removed our GNOME mirror.
- 25 October 2023: We have locally blocked a DDoS attack that was causing mirror instability. We have asked campus to block those IP ranges at the border firewalls. Please let us know if you experience any issues.
- 20 August 2023: Sabayon Linux links are dead. It looks like this project was replaced with MocaccinoOS. We are looking into mirroring that.
- 10 May 2023: We have an opening for a new student (undergrad or grad) mirror admin. Linux skills required. Email us for details if you are interested.
- 16 March 2022: Mirror Admins have a new email address (look under the software list).
- 12 December 2021: Add mirror of MSYS2.
- 28 July 2021: Added mirror of Zorin OS free ISOs (Core, Lite, and Education).
- 27 January 2021: An issue with our DNS had us down appear to be offline for around 18 hours. If you are reading this, the issue has been fixed.
- 01 October 2020: The MozDev.org OSS Hosting site has been shut down as of the end of July 2020. We will keep all mirrored content as it was in the last successful sync on 31 July 2020, but there will be no further updates.
- 31 October 2019: The Antergos project has shut down and has turned off much of their infrastructure, including their website (which now redirects to Archive.org). As originally announced on 22 May 2019, we are removing our mirror of Antergos.
- 23 June 2019: We are continuing to monitor our hardware, but it seems the indicators of drive failure were false positives. Our current working theory is that other work in the datacenter may have disturbed a loose connection between the SATA HBA Card and the SATA backplane.
We are currently experiencing possible failure of three (out of 14) hard drives. As of now, we are still operational (thanks to ZFS!!), and we are monitoring the situation. - 28 May 2019: The bandwidth charts at the bottom of this page are now generated from vnstat. The old graphs had been generated using a custom script and Google Charts, and had not been working properly since the move to our new hardware.
- 27 November 2018: Added mirror of MX Linux ISOs and packages.
- 18 October 2018: Added mirrors of Devuan Linux and Eclipse.
- 24 July 2018: After months of assorted delays, we are extremely happy to announce that we are now running on new hardware in a new datacenter!! More details to come...
- 4 June 2018: A campus-wide power outage on Sunday evening caused hardware problems for us which led to a 31-hour outage. This machine is now back up and running, and our replacement hardware should be ready to switch in the next week or two.
- 12-18 April 2018: One of our upstream providers was having issues which caused some of our packages to be out of date.
After a number of days without a resolution, we switched to other upstream sources. - 29 March 2018: We are in the process of setting up our new server! Once we have it set up, we plan to reopen the request form to allow users to request additional software to be mirrored.
- 20 November 2017: We have fixed mirroring of ROS Wiki and ROS docs.
- 7 August 2016: We have replaced our mirror of ArchAssault with ArchStrike.
